SJVN plans Luhri hydro electric project

SJVN is planning to set up Luhri HEP (219 MW Stage I ) project in Shimla in Kullu & Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The project involves setting up of 86 m high concrete gravity dam across the river Satluj to generate 2 x 100 MW of hydropower using run-off-the river scheme and a toe dam of 19 MW. An underground powerhouse is proposed near Marola Village.

As of February 2018, the project capacity has been revised from 219 MW to 210 MW in order to maintain a free flow of 1 km between this project and the Rampur HEP, located at the upstream, the dam height has been reduced and accordingly the install capacity of the project has come down. According the project cost has also been revised down from Rs. 2274 million to 2208 million.
